A Presidential Performance

  • 14 Navy Champs Capital 14 Navy blew away the competition this past weekend at the Wisconsin Jrs. President's Day event by winning the championship. 14 Navy did not drop a match all weekend as they turned their #3 seed at the start of the tournament into #1 by the end!
  • In perhaps the most exciting match of the weekend. Capital 14 Hawks started out as a #4 seed in their first pool and took down the #1 seed of the tournament in two sets winning their day 1 pool.
  • The Capital 14 Hawks finished a very respectable 4th place. Great job to both teams and thanks to Wisconsin Jrs. for running a class event!

Clash of the 18s!

This past Sunday the Capital Combats Cancer 18s Jamboree provided some exciting volleyball and raised some money for a great cause. With 22 teams in the event, the top 10 made the gold playoffs where volleyball fans were treated to some big time battles. In the pre-quarter finals, Eagles VBC defeated River City 17 Anaconda in three games with a 19-17 win in the 3rd set. The quarterfinals pitted some talented teams against each other with FC Elite 18-1 beating Wisconsin Select 18s in two close games. Capital 18 Red then disposed of Eagles VBC in hard fought games with lots of spirited play on both sides of the net. Then a very strong River City 18 Gator team then took care of FVA 18s in two games and Capital 18 Navy beat Madison Crush 17s (the only 17s team to make the Gold quarterfinals) in two quick games. The semi-finals may have been an early preview of some great volleyball to be played at the Badger Region Championships! Capital 18 Navy went back and forth with River City 18 Gator with Capital eventually winning in two games with great defense and bombing serves. Court #1 then saw Capital 18 Red and FC Elite 18-1 go toe to toe with Capital winning two highly contested games from the very talented and explosive FC Elite 18-1 team. It was an all-Capital final and you knew that neither team was going to back down to each other. After 18 Red won the first game easily, 18 Navy battled back from a 4 point deficit in game two to send it to a third game. 18 Red jumped out early in game 3, but then 18 Navy tied it up at 12-12 when 18 Red called their last time-out. 18 Navy came out of the time out and scored the next three points to win the tournament. Very exciting high level volleyball all day and congrats to all the teams that participated.
