CAPITAL 14 ELITE PLAYERS SHINE IN THE SAND!

Capital 14 Elite players Allison Roth and Victoria Ili teamed up and competed in two of the area's largest beach volleyball tournaments this summer - the Bradford Beach Jam in Milwaukee on July 26th, and the USA Beach Junior Tour's North Coast Open in Chicago on August 2nd. Allison and Victoria did very well, winning the 14s division in Milwaukee, and going 4-0 in pool play and finishing tied for 5th overall in the 16s division in Chicago. Nice job, ladies!

CAPITAL COMES UP BIG AT JVDA CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

What a weekend for Capital Volleyball Academy! All four teams posted strong finishes in a tough and deep tournament:

14 Elite: 3rd Place

The 14 Elite team entered their semi-final match against St. Louis CYC 14 Blue as the only undefeated team in their age division. Led by some great all-around play from Jillain Bauer, fantastic defense and serve receive from Vanessa Clarson, and the strong setting of Kasey Williams, the 14 Elite team posted a 9-0 match record (20-1 game record) heading into the semi-final. The girls dropped the first game of the semi-final 24-26, despite a strong comeback midway through the game. 14 Elite worked as hard as they could to retake the second game, but ended up losing a tough one 21-25. That shouldn't take away from the strong tournament showing this "injury prone" team put in. Great season ladies, come back next year hungry!!!

15 Elite: 3rd Place

The 15 Elite team was the story of the 15 Open Division. Posting an impressive win against Asics Kiva 15 Red in the first round of pool play, and then following that with two great matches against Lions 15-1 and Illini Elite 15 Cardinal in the second round, the girls found themselves in the top six teams of the tournament entering Monday. A strong win against Sports Performance 15 Elite ensured the girls would move on to the semi-finals, where they faced off against the top seed in the tournament, Asics Kiva 15 Red. The girls came out smoking in the first game, highlighted by the outstanding play of Kaitlyn McIntyre and Ashley Ring on the outside, and the play of Brianna Wethal in the middle. The girls dropped a tight game, 25-27, and then lost the second game 16-25. A fantastic showing for all of the girls on this team. Olivia Dittmann and Kaitlyn McIntyre were named to the all-tournament team.

17 Elite: 3rd Place

The 17 Elite team found themselves in a tight spot after the second round of pool play. After taking third in the pool, the girls would need to win a challenge bracket that same night in order to remain in the gold bracket. True to form, the 17 Elite team responded with two resounding victories against SPVB 17 Runbird and and Dayton Juniors 17 gold. The next day, the girls posted a 2-1 record in their power pool, allowing them to advance to the quarterfinals. The girls won an exciting three game match in the opening round against Asics Kiva 17 White, and were then scheduled to play Milwaukee Sting 17 Black in the semi-finals. After posting a decisive first game victory, the girls dropped a tough second game 25-27. Despite their best efforts, the girls lost a thrilling third game 20-22, but were guaranteed a third place finish. A fantastic showing for the 17 Elite team! Kirby Toon and Morgan Fry-Pasic were named to the all-tournament team.
